As the organization reaches its 60th anniversary, Davenport Sister Cities now operates as an independent 501C3 organization and as a member of a global network of advocates for cultural awareness and international exchange, including Iowa Sister States and Sister Cities International. Sister Cities International is a non-profit citizen diplomacy network creating and strengthening partnerships between U.S. and international communities in an effort to “promote peace through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation – one individual, one community at a time.”

The Sister Cities International network unites tens of thousands of citizen diplomats and volunteers in over 500 member communities with over 2,000 partnerships in 145 countries on six continents.
